The Toothless Elderly

Among Americans aged 65 or older, 23 percent have lost all their natural teeth. The percentage peaks at 58 percent among poor whites in nonmetropolitan areas of the South Atlantic states.

Mostly due to lack of Dental Insurance that adequately covers above and beyond an annual $1000 cap to any major work. As a result many let their oral health decline further since they can ill afford to pay the $3000 to $10,000 required to repair what was damaged over many years. This is probably the most over looked medically related issue exacerbating the physical health of Americans.
