The percentage of Americans who own an e-reader or tablet computer surged over the holidays, according to the Pew Internet & American Life Project. As the dust settled, e-readers and tablets appear to be equally popular, each owned by 19 percent of the public. Overall, the percentage of Americans who own at least one of the devices climbed from 18 percent in December to 29 percent in January.
